Nosh
My learnings from working as a Product Design intern
Introduction
Nosh is a startup focused on creating cooking robots with artificial intelligence. During my time working with them, I had the chance to thoroughly explore this intricate product from all angles. My internship began with researching potential consumers and market trends, allowing me to grasp the business aspect of the project. As the internship advanced, I went into analyzing the research findings and formulating product requirements tailored for a specific target audience. This groundwork served as the foundation for designing features that met the identified needs.
Learnings
System thinking is important to understand the whole ecosystem in which the product works, as the product is a cooking robot there are multiple other elements like ingredients and cultural aspects playing role in framing the product requirements.
Impact of proposed requirements decides how beneficial the product would for company, as a student I often used to ignore the profitability factor or how big of an impact it creates, but during this internship I was able to understand how to find opportunities which are impactful.
Talking to users is essential and doing it without putting our own bias is even more important, while working with Nosh I got the opportunity to interact with multiple users and know their perspective, I learnt how letting them take charge of conversation can sometimes help us know their real pain points.
Understanding technological feasibility enabled me to explore various solution options, whether it was implementing a software update, incorporating an AI solution, or developing a new product feature.
From a service perspective, I gained valuable insights during meetings where proposed ideas were discussed. I learned to consider the backend aspects necessary to make a solution work, whether it involved upgrading to a more powerful server for running algorithms or incorporating additional steps in the manufacturing process.
I would like to thank Yatin, Praveen, Nakul and Amit for the invaluable guidance and support they provided, I would also like to thank Amaltas Khan and Gulmohar Khan for bringing this opportunity to me.
Special thanks to Arunangshu Jana for being part of this journey with me.
